Washed and Cleansed
Becoming a member of Jesus' corporate spiritual body brings us in close eye to eye relationship with Jesus. Being this close to Jesus brings us as close to father God as Jesus is. We become in relationship with father God as "father" to us at the same level as he is to Jesus. Being in the corporate spiritual person of Jesus, or "in Jesus", makes us children of father God like Jesus is a child of father God. If Jesus is in father God then so are we in father God. After we take father God's offer to become a member of the corporate spiritual person of Jesus, we will need to go through a cleaning. Jesus knows what father God expects him to look like and we become representatives of Jesus' body so we have to look as clean as Jesus does. We will have to apply our free will to submit to and cooperate with the cleaning so we each become as clean to father God as Jesus is. Father God and Jesus insist all of our cleanup be a gift to us as part of becoming adopted. In this way the entire cleanup will be sponsored by them. We just have to make the commitment to become family with them. We don't get clean of sin and then become family with father God. We become family with father God and then get cleaned up. We are mistaken if we think we need to clean ourselves on our own power before we can be a part of Jesus' spiritual body. We all come from different places and may have been dirtied different amounts. No one being cleaned up can take credit for having any advantage over any one else. As a gift to us the nature of our cleanup can far exceed what we can come up with ourselves. Once everybody is cleaned to the same level we can share with each other as one big happy family without the concern of getting other peoples' dirt on us. Jesus is seeking relationship with people and will clean each of us up to be beautiful to him and father God. It is a family atmosphere.
Jesus gave us our personal copy of his spirit to live through. With experience, our spiritual maturity will reflect how much we are willing to use Jesus' spirit to self clean and maintain our cleanliness as opposed to how much they have to clean us. Jesus expects us to use his spirit to clean ourselves up. We don't want to be self righteous in our efforts to clean up. By our using Jesus' spirit to clean ourselves up Jesus is still the one doing the cleaning. When we are in relationship with Jesus we aren't abusing Jesus by using his spirit to clean ourselves up. That's why he came for us in the first place. Jesus' spirit provides us with the power, the figurative sponge, water and soap to clean up. We have to apply our free will to doing this. By our being in Jesus and using Jesus' spirit to see ourselves from Jesus' perspective we will have the same opinion as Jesus as to what needs to be cleaned and when we are finally cleaned. Father God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit will oversee and administer the cleaning to make sure we are all thoroughly cleaned to the same level. We have to expect to remove everything from our old life using Jesus' spirit to do it. Like a child who is told to wash their hands for dinner, we may have a different opinion as to what clean means. We may get sent back to the sink to get something we missed. We can't clean too much.
Father God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit take great pride in cleaning us up. It doesn't matter to them how much they have to clean. It is a representation of their work in us on the earth. The more they clean, the better we look and the better they look for helping us do it. It is a representation of their love for us to dote over us until we look awesome. Their desire to clean us stems from a desire for relationship with us. They want to love us and want us to love them back. The relationship aspect is very important to them. Let's look at an example of this. Notice how detailed the description is.
Ezekiel 16:4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. 5None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. 6And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live. 7I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare. 8Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine. 9Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil. 10I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk. 11I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. 12And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. 13Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. 14And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
"God" here could be a representation of the personalities of the father and the son since combined they are Elohim. When God saw us in our death God wanted us to live. God wanted to put life into us. This is why God wants to clean us. God wants us to live, flourish and be in love with him because he loves us. God wants to dress us up until we look beautiful before others. He wants to wash us thoroughly. He wants to show us off. He is willing to give us his limitless resources to make us look our best. The foundation of this is the relationship, the covenant. We don't see a concern over cost because we are dealing with God who can create whatever he wants. With God money is no object when it comes to relationship.
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Jesus' authority to wash us comes from the price he paid by shedding his blood. In order to become a raised from the dead human spirit Jesus had to put on human flesh and then be killed as if he was a sinner but without having actually sinned. Like "follow the money", follow the spiritual authority. According to justice, if Jesus didn't sin but was killed as a sinner, then he had the legal right to require that he be raised from the dead. This made him a raised from the dead human spirit. The blood Jesus shed when he died constituted a loss to him. Since Jesus was then allowed to require that he be raised from the dead, that loss of blood constituted the payment to get to the position of being able to require that he be raised from the dead. So the payment to eventually come to a position to be resurrected was the loss of his blood. In our case redemption had to precede deliverance. Jesus couldn't give us a legally raised from the dead human spirit until he became one. If we take Jesus' resurrected human spirit then Jesus will use the redemptive value of his shed blood to wash us from our sin. We can see we also are allowed to use the redemptive value of Jesus' shed blood to wash our own robes, or selves, because of the authority Jesus has is given to us for this purpose. Father God and Jesus are glad to see us be mature enough to wash ourselves with Jesus' authority and spirit. Our reward is we will be made kings and priests and have access to living waters, and so on. Whether it is Jesus washing us or we are washing ourselves, we are still using the same authority to become washed. It is not by our own authority or power that we become cleaned.
John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; 4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. 6Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. 8Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 10Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. 11For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. 12So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? 13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. 15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. 18I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.
We see several lessons here in just this one short story. Peter had a small problem with letting Jesus wash his feet. Either it was pride or humility. Neither was acceptable with Jesus. Jesus explicitly told him either Jesus washed him or he had no part with Jesus. We also see that Jesus would like us as a corporate body to share in the cleaning of others. This is not an invitation to meddle with the affairs of others. It is not an invitation to poke at others like they were a squeaky toy. Whether we are the washed or the washer we should be humble towards each other. If we are the washer then the person being washed is the one that is dirty. They would not be in the place of superiority because we are helping them. We can wash someone because of who we are in Jesus and not because of who they are. If we need to be washed we should be amongst members of Jesus' body that will help us with our need without being condescending. Jesus clearly called himself their master. Jesus also hinted that he was sent by father God as a servant. Jesus passed to us his mandate given him by father God to be a servant to us by washing us. Jesus wants us to share the love with others within his corporate spiritual body by helping others that he has chosen. It doesn't matter where Jesus called them from. It is his decision to chose them and made them a part of his spiritual body. The end result is the same. We all end up squeaky clean.
Acts 22:14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Water baptism is a symbolic form of washing away sins and entering the corporate person of Jesus. This is being baptized into Jesus, or the name of Jesus, which represents the corporate person of Jesus. Father God wants us to know his will. He wants us to know what he wants. He isn't hiding it. He is telling us. He wants us to be able to see that Just One, Jesus. Father God wants us to be able to see Jesus so we can come into relationship with him. This is what makes us alive and a child of father God, and father God wants us to be alive.
Ezekiel 36:24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.
This reference is pertaining to physical Israel. There is a physical Israel and a spiritual Israel. The concept of being cleansed by father God applies to both. By taking the offer of the new spirit that Jesus can become to us we become members of spiritual Israel. Then God does the washing and cleansing. We will give up our filthiness and our idols and learn to walk in father God's ways.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify
your hearts, ye double minded.
Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
We are not saved by our works of righteousness. We can do works of righteousness with Jesus' spirit in us but they reflect that we are using Jesus' spirit. Jesus washes, or bathes, us with regeneration, or rebirthing. Jesus is willing and very interested in washing us from foolishness, disobedience, being deceived, serving lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy and being hateful. As soon as we are washed from each of these things and we have regeneration, or rebirthing, in each of these areas we are no longer going to be foolish, disobedient, etc. Father God is telling us how to be successful. He is telling us what enables us to move forward in our maturation. He is telling us where our strength lies. He is telling us how to exercise authority over the devil. This is part of the goal of Jesus in giving us his raised from the dead spirit and him and father God and the Holy Spirit washing us. Let's look at a bigger picture of why Jesus is wanting to cleanse us.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
We see in the illustration of the model husband and wife relationship the template of the kind of relationship that Jesus wants to have with us. Jesus isn't looking to just be the boss over people because he can be. He is bringing people into his body, his flesh and his bones, to be a part of him. We have to leave our father and mother and friends to become part of Jesus. They may or may not join us there, but we have to commit our will to go there. There are properties and boundaries to this relationship. We have to do our part in the relationship.
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
10But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
11Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
12But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
13And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots
they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
14Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
We don't want to play hard to get because the ones that eventually are presented to Jesus will be glorious and without spot, wrinkle or blemish. The ones that are spots and blemishes will be rejected. They won't be presented to Jesus as part of his body. We have to watch how we exercise our heart. We don't want to be punished for ever as cursed children because we didn't exercise our will to become godly.
1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Father God is telling us how to succeed so our joy may be full. We want to be self aware when it comes to sin. We want to make sure we are not actively willing to sin. If we do sin we have to clean it up. Jesus wants us to get it out of us. We can submit to a maintenance washing as we learn to use Jesus' raised from the dead spirit in our life and leave more and more of our old life behind. He wants us to look our best. He will forgive us of our sins if we are willing to get rid of them.
Jesus really deliberates over each and every aspect of our relationship. In a way, he has nothing better to do. Right now he is "all in" regarding the relationship he is establishing with people. Our life may come and go and for us as individuals it is all important that we make this connection. At some point the age will end and we will move on to the next age. There won't be any more people being brought into Jesus' body. Everything that is dynamic now regarding regenerating and rebirthing people will end and we will either be in or out of Jesus' body.
Let's look at what happens when we don't recognize the relationship aspect of our involvement with father God and Jesus. In our very first scripture reference at the top of the page we started at verse 4 and were up to verse 14. We saw a beautiful relationship develop initiated by God wanting to love someone and then moving strongly to clean them up and show them off. Let's back up to verse 2 and see where the text started.
Ezekiel 16:2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
Ezekiel was given the job of letting Jerusalem know that they had a problem with their behavior. Now we'll look at what happened next after verse 14.
Ezekiel 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.
16And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
17Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,
18And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.
19My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the Lord GOD.
20Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,
21That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?
22And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast polluted in thy blood.
23And it came to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord GOD;)
24That thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee an high place in every street.
25Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet (sometimes legs) to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms.
26Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger.
27Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of thy lewd way.
28Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.
29Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.
30How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an imperious whorish woman;
31In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire;
32But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!
33They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.
34And the contrary is in thee from other women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary.
35Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:
36Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;
37Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
38And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.
39And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.
40They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
41And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.
42So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.
43Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations.
44Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.
45Thou art thy mother's daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
46And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.
47Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.
48As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
49Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
50And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
51Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.
52Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.
53When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them:
54That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.
55When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.
56For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,
57Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about.
58Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith the LORD.
59For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
60Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.
61Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.
62And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD:
63That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.
This is a broken heart. This shows how serious God is about being in relationship with someone. We see covenant mentioned repeatedly. We see jealousy, pain and passion. We see God fretting over the relationship and the problems with it. We see a certain amount of God still knowing that he is God and that he has a status to maintain. Our actions represent God and reflect on the image of God. We see boundaries that were breached and the strong feeling God has about that. At the end of it all God still brings it back to being about the relationship. God still wants to carry on with the relationship.
In a way, we can see father God treating the whole planet like this. Those who are willing to come into relationship are welcome to. Those that reject father God and his son who brings us into relationship with father God also get rejected. Everyone who is willing to come into relationship with father God on his terms is welcome to. It is an open buffet right now. We have to use our free will to take this offer and enter into this relationship. It is not automatic. As we can see, it can be quite involved. It is really what we are designed for. Any other application of ourselves is probably sin and outside of what father God intended us to be.
Washing is a necessary and useful part of our entering into relationship with father God and his family. Father God lets us leave our history behind. He lets us move forward, free from the spiritual damage we incurred before taking Jesus into our heart to become spiritually resurrected. We can feel refreshed and cleaned and able to be alive from our spirit outward. We can be glad that father God isn't leaving us spiritually dirty and miserable. We can avoid all the friction and rejection that we incur if we don't accept being washed and cleansed. We can feel free to express love and pursue relationship and eternal life.
